Luxury has moved from ownership to experiences to feelings. The Neoluxury Traveler wants the experience through every aspect of the journey from trip planning to arrival at the airport and when they go out of their hotel or other accommodation. To market to them, we can't serve up a categorized, standardized, pigeon-holed package. Instead, we need to know who they are, tailor the message or product accordingly, and allow for co-creation. Is A Staff-Less Hotel The Way Of The Future?
A staff-less hotel could be coming. People don't mind arriving at an Airbnb with no one to greet them, so why can't this work for a hotel? Some say it already has. Millennials and Gen Z really don't need to be greeted at the front desk or have someone hand them a room key. Hologram technology could cut the variable of COVID safety fears out, allowing speakers to attend events from the comfort of their homes in hologram form. Not only would this be good for the environment, but it could also reduce travel times and provide significant return on the initial investment in the long run.
