Digital Nomads Are The New Face Of Business Travel

Global nomadism — a world where people can work from anywhere ​ — is key to the future. According to a Fast Company-Harris poll of 1,105 people across a spectrum of income brackets, 57% of people plan to travel out of town while working remotely when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Destinations from Estonia to Barbados have been introducing long-term travel visas to entice newly remote workers and revive local economies that have decimated without traditional tourism. Hotel companies, as well, are embracing nomads by introducing new long-term stay properties and products aimed at travelers who want to treat hotels more like homes. Read more in Fast Company here.

Aging Wine...Under The Sea

Innovation drives a lot of experimentation and there is one Italian winery which has been working to age wine under the sea — the Mediterranean to be exact. Podere San Cristoforo ages a wine underwater that arrives on the table directly in amphora, as was the case in the times of the Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans. Read more in Wine News here.

Destinations are recognizing they need to think more about sustainable travel management, hotels are implementing more sustainable operations, consumers are becoming more interested in how they can spend money with travel suppliers who are sustainably minded, and now the media is devoting more articles to advising consumers how to travel more sustainably. Millennials Plan To Spend More On Luxury Travel In 2021

A joint study by Tripadvisor and Accenture has taken a closer look at travel plans by demographics. Thirty-two percent (32 percent) of high-earning Millennials are planning to increase their travel spending in 2021, almost double the average respondent. More than a third (37 percent) of high-income Millennials are planning to spend more than $5,000 on an upcoming luxury trip. ​ Read more in Insider Travel Report here.
