Last week the cruise lines just went for it and announced they will sail from ports outside of the US. There's a hotel group now accepting bitcoin, vacation layaways are becoming a thing, and yes, there is something called "stargazing tourism". Here's your three-minute #Trending read for the week.

Luxury Hotel Group Taking Bitcoin

For those on the fence about cryptocurrency, one small luxury hotel group has taken the leap forward and is now accepting Bitcoin as well as other cryptocurrency. The Kessler Collection has announced that it will now accept cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum and Dogecoin as payment. Read more in Travel Weekly here.

Stargazing Tourism Is The Next Big Thing

As any of us who live in highly populated areas knows, light pollution makes it nearly impossible to see the gorgeous natural star display when the sun sets. As a result, traveling to an internationally recognized dark sky place has become even more appealing. So more states are taking action to protect the future of their night skies. Thoughtful Thrifters Are Spurring Vacation Layaways

Consumers haven't been dining out much — or vacationing for that matter — so they are seeing extra money in their bank accounts they can't wait to spend. Still maintaining a bit of a "value conscious" mindset typically brought on by global events, however, they have a pent up demand to travel and experience things, but want to do so cautiously. As a result we're seeing a rise in "buy now, pay later" services — kind of like vacation layaway. Read more in Phocus Wire here.

Cruise Lines Making Their Own Rules

It started with Crystal Cruises launching sailing from The Bahamas and then the others quickly fell into line. Celebrity Cruises announced they would sail from St. Maarten and Royal Caribbean also from The Bahamas. If the CDC will not allow cruise lines to call on US ports, well, they'll just move outside of the US — but not too far that American consumers can't get to them easily. They're accepting only vaccinated passengers which is great, because those who've gotten jabbed are desperate to go pretty much anywhere! Read more in Travel Weekly here.
