Boomers Will Be Spending The Most On Travel In 2022

MMGY has just released findings of its 2021 Portrait of American Travelers “Winter Edition” survey, and despite the Omnicrom variant, it appears 71% of U.S. adults plan to take a vacation in the next six months. Boomers lead all generations in travel spending intentions, indicating that they plan to spend at least $4,000 on travel in the next 12 months. Millennial households lead all generations in the number of trips planned, expressing intentions to take an average of 4.4 trips during the next 12 months, edging out Gen Zs (4.1), Gen Xers (3.3) and Boomers (3.8). First Whole Life Net Zero Hotel Opens In UK

The world's first fully net zero hotel is now open in Chiswick, UK. room2 Chiswick uses 89% less energy per square meters compared to typical UK hotels, and it is the first hotel in the world to fully account for its entire carbon footprint, making it 'whole life net zero'. Its blue roof reduces localized flooding by slowly discharging rainwater, and the green roof boasts 200 tons of soil and wildflowers, planted to increase biodiversity and absorb CO2, along with beehives and bug hotels. RVs, Camping, And Glamping Still Hot For 2022

It may be a new year, but old ideas are still trending. Alternative accommodations like RVs, camping, and glamping are still hot for 2022 travel. A survey conducted by Wakefield Research for RVShare found 45% of travelers included RVs in their top three types of accommodations, a 13% increase from 2020. It also found that, when planning a 2022 vacation, half of travelers are considering outdoor activities. Read more in Travel Weekly here.
