AAA Predicts 683 Million Road Trips This Summer

Americans are definitely planning to get out and explore this summer — but their type of vacation is going to look a lot different than in past years. AAA projects car trips will account for 97% of summer vacations in 2020 — the year-over-year decrease for car travel clocks in at just 3%, while air travel (down 74%) and rail, cruise ship and bus travel (down 86%) see much more significant decreases. TripAdvisor Quietly Testing New "Reco" Service

Behind the scenes, TripAdvisor is quietly working on a new platform to connect consumers to "travel designers" who will plan and book their trip. Called "Reco," it works on both desktop and via a smartphone app for Apple devices, giving travelers access to a portfolio of agents for a $199 fee each time. PhocusWire has the details here.

New Technologies Are In The Works To Make Travel Safe Again

What Is The Travel And Leisure Credit?

There is a new proposal to put $4,000 in consumers' pockets to help two hard-hit industries. Dubbed the "Explore America Tax Credit", it would give people a huge incentive to support restaurants, airlines, hotels, cruise ship operators and attractions – businesses that have taken a disproportionate hit from the pandemic.
