Meet Elwood: A New Boutique Hotel In Lexington, Kentucky
Modern Southern Hospitality Creates A True Sense Of Place

I wanted to take a moment of your time to introduce you to my newest client: Elwood Hotel & Suites, a 62-room independent boutique hotel in Lexington, Kentucky.
Here are just a few things to keep on your radar for upcoming stories:
- The hotel name pays homage to Elwood, an American Thoroughbred racehorse best remembered for winning the 1904 Kentucky Derby — and for being the first horse to win the Derby owned and bred by a woman. There's a bigger story here about women and Elwood — more to come on this soon.
- Elwood had a quiet soft opening last fall, but is now 100% operational and welcoming guests.
- The inviting floral mural on the exterior was hand-painted by a Canadian artist and her work continues through the public areas. It was designed to bring positivity and beauty to the area — particularly for those visiting the area's local hospitals just next door.
- The overall decor is stunning — reminiscent of the colors of Kentucky and the Blue Grass region, clearly showing guests this is no cookie-cutter big box hotel.
- Guest rooms and suites are spacious, incredibly comfortable, and feel as familiar as home.
- The Gardener's Premier Rooms feature three windows of natural light and plenty of lounging and working space. This room is decorated with live plants from a local nursery partner (Pemberton’s) and feature lavender bath products from Kentucky Soaps and Such. It's currently part of a new package billed as "The World's First Plant Friendly Hotel" where you can enjoy being surrounded by lush foliage and even get a succulent plant to take home with you.
- Fiddletree Kitchen & Bar offers signature cocktails and shareable plates — Elwood's take on comfort food inspired by local specialties and Americana cuisine.
- A core value of Elwood is to always be a good neighbor. The Elwood Social Club is a giveback program to introduce travelers to philanthropic causes in Lexington. The property hosts a different local nonprofit every month.
In the coming weeks I will be pulling together some helpful one sheets and will share more detail on these story angles above.
In the meantime, if you have any pressing needs where Elwood might fit into a story in progress — it will definitely be a great place for spring and summer travel for those who are still exploring domestically or a seek a great comfortable weekend getaway where they can immerse themselves in Elwood's Modern Southern Hospitality and authentic sense of place — please let me know.
We're also open to press stays for those on assignment.
Thanks for your time and let me know if I can be of assistance.
Best,
Jane Coloccia
