I wanted to take a moment of your time to introduce you to my newest client: Spicemode, a minority-owned, Chicago-based purveyor of award-winning global-inspired artisanal sauces and seasonings handmade in the US.

Here are just a few things to keep on your radar for upcoming stories:

  • Spicemode was created to help home cooks cut down on cooking time without reducing flavor. ​ A pinch of spice or a tablespoon or two of sauce adds restaurant-level flavor to dishes on a weeknight without spending hours in the kitchen.
  • Spicemode sauces are truly an artisanal product handmade in small batches at an Amish Farm in Southern Illinois. Yes, they really do take hours to cook down and caramelize onions and other ingredients to achieve the complex layers of flavors one would find at traditional Indian and South Asian restaurants.
  • Spicemode products are all natural, vegan, and gluten-free without preservatives using over a dozen globally sourced ingredients.
  • Spicemode was founded by Amar Singh, a first-generation Sikh born and raised in Chicago from parents who immigrated to the USA from Myanmar. After working as a graphic designer, Amar started The Curry Cruiser, a food truck in Chicago which re-imagined traditional dishes. He was on a mission to show people that Indian food didn't have to be made with lots of cream and gravy. He developed a flavor-packed menu centered on handmade flatbreads and vibrantly spiced curries — dishes that were dynamic, distinct, and layered with spices. His entire menu was made without shortcuts — roasting and grinding spices by hand, caramelizing onions for hours on the stovetop, and always using the freshest of ingredients - which is what micro-batch is all about.
  • After years of perfecting his recipes, Amar parked The Curry Cruiser and started Spicemode, so he could bring his unique spices and sauces developed in Chicago, to home kitchens around the country. By combining artisan tradition with design Spicemode celebrates spice blends from around the world in easy to use, small-batch curry sauces, seasonings, and rubs. That’s why the five chiles in the Fiery Vindaloo Curry Sauce are distinctly Mexican. The ratio of sugar, salt, and spice in the Sweet Chilifire is all American BBQ, and the Golden Curry seasoning blends ​
    turmeric with chili flakes and French herbs.
  • Spicemode products include three sauces (Golden Madras, Fiery Vindaloo, and Magic Masala) as well as five seasonings (Sweet Chilifire, Savory Tikka, Golden Curry, Hot Mirchi, Smoky Tandoor), and three spice rubs (Mexican Taco, Moroccan Kebab, and Tikka Masala).
